Buy a lifting hook
A load (lifting, rigging) hook is a load-gripping device used in lifting equipment, machines, and mechanisms as a load suspension point. This is not the only application of rigging hooks. They can be used as auxiliary devices for completing various types of cargo slings (chain, textile, rope), lifting mechanisms (winches, hoists) as a grip for hooking and lifting cargo.
Each load hook is designed for a static load that is 25% higher than the rated load capacity of the device. The hooks are additionally equipped with safety locks that prevent the removable load grippers from falling out of the hook's opening. However, in some cases, load hooks without safety latches can be used:
- cranes for foundry and sinter blast furnace production;
- portal cranes;
- work with flexible load grippers (removable load grippers).
Types of lifting hooks
The lifting devices use stamped (forged) hooks made on forging and pressing equipment and plate hooks consisting of individual elements cut from steel sheets. To evenly distribute the load between the plates, the hook's opening has soft liners that allow the sling rope to be laid without sharp kinks, which will increase the service life of removable steel rope load-gripping devices. The production of rigging hooks by casting is not widespread, as the hook body can form shells and cracks due to slag inclusions.
