A turnbuckle (general-purpose turnbuckle) is a popular type of rigging product used for fastening systems during construction and installation work. General-purpose turnbuckles should not be used for lifting operations and other critical operations where significant force loads are applied to the tie-down structure - this is what turnbuckles are also called.

Types of turnbuckles
The rigging consists of a body - the mounting type of turnbuckles is supplied in an open body with an internal thread at both ends, where bolts with a certain type of tip are screwed in. The length of the turnbuckle, and thus the tension or looseness of the tie, is adjusted by turning the product body left and right. All structural elements of the turnbuckles are interchangeable, with the same standard sizes.
The turnbuckle is manufactured by casting in accordance with DIN 1480 from carbon steel. The surface of the product is galvanized, which improves anti-corrosion properties and expands the scope of rigging applications. The turnbuckles are designed exclusively for linear longitudinal loads. Side loads are not allowed.
The mounting turnbuckles are distinguished by the type (size) of the bolt thread and the design of the lugs. Hooks or eyes can be used as bolt endings. Combined end fasteners are also possible: a hook on one side and an eye on the other. Eye-eye turnbuckles, due to their one-piece design, have higher strength and tensile characteristics that are 2-2.5 times higher than those of hook-hook and hook-eye turnbuckles.
