A rope damper is a special device designed to protect the vehicle body and people nearby from possible impacts of the rigging elements of the towing rope in case of its breakage during towing/evacuation of the vehicle. The device compensates for the energy of the jerk when a steel or synthetic towing cable breaks, thereby eliminating the possibility of damage to the bumper or windshield of an SUV by a metal rope, rigging bracket, or hook. It is widely used in rally competitions and off-road driving.
The rope damper has a system of velcro fasteners to grip the tow strap to prevent the device from slipping at any angle. The product is equipped with four pockets, which are usually filled with sand, nuts, bolts, or alternative “materials” weighing up to 4 kg to weigh down the structure. High-strength polyester material is used to manufacture the rope damper.
