Hoist trolleys: purpose and principle of operation
The hoist trolley (carriage) is used to suspend hand chain hoists and further move loads along a beam or monorail in a horizontal position. Thus, the use of a hoist carriage in combination with chain hoists expands the functionality and practicality of lifting equipment, facilitates cargo handling and reduces the time required for loading and unloading, installation, repair and construction work.
The hoist carriage is supplied in two versions:
1. Geared trolley - the hoist carriage is controlled from the floor by manually pulling down a looped shunting chain, which, in turn, is connected to the gear system of the device. The shunting chain has high mechanical strength.
2. Plain trolley - the hoist trolley is controlled by manually pushing the load horizontally against the beam (monorail) at a low height from the floor. In this case, a strong angular deviation from the vertical is extremely dangerous.
The recommended suspension height of the hoist trolley from the floor level is no more than 3 meters.
Installation of a hoist trolley
Hoist trolleys are usually used in warehouses, production workshops and industrial equipment repair shops, construction and installation sites where repairs are constantly being carried out that involve regular movement of goods.
In the absence of electricity at the facility, manual hoist trolleys can replace electric hoists and crane beams in terms of performance and practicality.
The hoist carriage is adjustable in width to allow installation on beams of different profiles. Before starting operation, the hoist trolley must be properly mounted on a beam that meets the requirements specified in the table data or
in the product data sheet. The device, when properly mounted on the beam, is simple, convenient and safe to use.
Tips for installing the hoist carriage:
1. When installing the carriage on the I-beam, the connecting elements (nuts, side walls, washers) must be screwed on correctly.
2. Setting the appropriate width of the drive wheels and the supporting kingpin relative to the width of the I-beam is carried out using adjusting washers, both inside and outside the side walls.
3. Easy running of the device is achieved by precisely setting the gap between the rollers and the edges of the beam. The size of this gap should be about 3 mm.
4. Regardless of the width of the monorail track and the trajectory of the trolley's horizontal movement along it, it is necessary to leave at least one washer in the middle and outside of the side walls during installation.
5. The lock nuts must be tightened with a force that ensures sufficient fastening reliability.
Service and operation
In order to detect breakdowns or deviations in operation, the hoist trolley must be inspected on a regular basis during each operation by persons responsible for the equipment's serviceability. It is forbidden to use defective devices
in operation. All rubbing mechanisms and assemblies must be lubricated every 2 months, depending on the intensity and operating conditions. Only specially trained persons are authorized to carry out maintenance and preservation of the
equipment.
Features of operation:
1. Before using the device, compare the characteristics of the device with the weight of the load to be handled.
2. Check the attachment points before use.
3. Use the equipment only in a horizontal plane.
4. Do not allow the traction chain to come into contact with acids, alkalis and other aggressive media.
5. The load must be attached only to the load-bearing pivot.
6. Do not hang or transport people.
7. Observe the load capacity - do not overload the mechanism.
8. If damage is detected, stop using the device immediately.
